David Watson - Musical Director, Marlborough Accordion Orchestra 2013-2023
David Watson formed the Marlborough Accordion Orchestra (M.A.O.) in May 2013, when a group of accordion players asked him to form it and be its Musical Director (M.D).
And so the M.A.O. was formed and went from strength to strength under the baton of David. As a skilled musician and talented Musical Director he took a handful of players with different levels of playing and instilled a level of enthusiasm and musicianship in them which has made the Orchestra what it is today.
In Spring 2023 David decided it was time to pass the baton on to someone else and was delighted when Helen Cowlan, also a very skilled musician - agreed to 'take over' the Accordion Orchestra.
However, it was David who first brought the M.A.O. to life and he is fondly remembered with grateful thanks from all the players over those ten years of his Musical Directorship.
